Your telegram No. 432 [of September 11th. Gas masks
for Nanking].
Canton authorities have approached Commercial Secretary
Hongkong, who has referred matter to Department of Overseas
Trade. Enquiry has been passed to latheson and Company
who are obtaining quotations for one million and fifty
thousand masks from makers,
Colonial Office have informed Hongkong that order can
be regarded as ordinary commercial business. No licence
is required to export gas masks from Great Britain,
